I first hiked the Pacific Crest Trail over the course of 1994 and 1996, then I hiked the whole thing in one go in 2013. During the latter hike I kept this website updated as I progressed up the trail. I still have about 45 hours of video to edit, but in the meantime there is a lot for you to look at here. Over the course of the 168 days I wrote 138,734 words and put 13,644 photos on this website.
Woke up a few times last night due to being cold. I wasn't in my sleeping bag and instead on a bed with a blanket. Woke up around 7:30. Couldn't really figure out how or where I could make coffee. There was a sign about not using the kitchen.
Took me a long while to get sorted so I just cooked on my jetboil stove. While talking with folks I realized that Monday is Memorial Day which means the post offices are closed. Big Problem. I had mailed my boxes in Mojave to the PO. This would mean I would have to kill two days waiting around. I had a few options...I could just have the boxes sent home and buy new food. I also toyed with the idea of hitchhiking up to Mojave to get them too. After a long while and a few phone calls I got the problem solved, They would be waiting for me at the Motel 6 in Mojave.
Spent part of the afternoon with Richard talking to him. He had a business problem relating to the Internet so he was asking me a few questions. He took me and another guy Luke to the store. Luke bought two days worth of snacks and it came to $35. I bought an 18 pack of beer to hand out to folks since there were probably 30 hikers at Hiker Town when we left.
After a few more hours I left with the main group not far behind me. I had a really good walk along the aqueduct. Due to me taking photos and video, the group with the glow sticks caught up to me. I ended up getting a lot of photos and video of them. We all walked together and then slowly drifted apart.
Around 12:30am I decided to call it a night and found a spot away from the road and slept.
