I first hiked the Pacific Crest Trail over the course of 1994 and 1996, then I hiked the whole thing in one go in 2013. During the latter hike I kept this website updated as I progressed up the trail. I still have about 45 hours of video to edit, but in the meantime there is a lot for you to look at here. Over the course of the 168 days I wrote 138,734 words and put 13,644 photos on this website.
Spent the day doing a lot of something and a lot of nothing. Got my resupply boxes unpacked and worked on getting this website updated.
Yard Sale was looking for someone to play chess with and I wanted to play, but I had to get all the photos and such uploaded. After sorting through 12 days of photos I kind of hit a breaking point. Keeping this site updated with the photos from two cameras is much more tedious than hiking in the hot desert. I got a bit frustrated and decided to bike into town to get a few photos and supplies.
That said, in the good news/bad news department:
Going forward I am going to be posting more frequently, but only putting on one or two photos per day rather than the usual 100. Later on after the hike I will go back through and add in all my photos and video. It is too much work to try and do it now. I have taken three days off from the hike just to work on the website and the fast people from the herd are starting to catch up. In Australia I could keep the website fully updated because I was carrying my laptop with me and could stay on top of things. Without having the laptop it is just too much work to go through all the photos every 10 days.
We played a lot of frisbee, drank beer and whatnot. I really felt like heading out tonight but it is nearly midnight so I'm just gonna get up early and go tomorrow.
