I first hiked the Pacific Crest Trail over the course of 1994 and 1996, then I hiked the whole thing in one go in 2013. During the latter hike I kept this website updated as I progressed up the trail. I still have about 45 hours of video to edit, but in the meantime there is a lot for you to look at here. Over the course of the 168 days I wrote 138,734 words and put 13,644 photos on this website.
Was up a little after sunrise and on the trail around 7:15 am. After getting to Lake Morena I walked up to the market a bit up the road so I could get some coffee and sunglasses. They were doing electrical work and behind the whole bit of electrical parts I saw the coffeemaker with a pot of what looked to be er, slow roasted, long brewed coffee. I pretended not to see it asked the clerk if they had any coffee, Hoping that there was other. coffee elsewhere. "Sure! Right over there"...
The sunglasses were what I wanted and a deal at $3.99. I asked the clerk if he had a mere and he laughed and he said sure do..and held up a huge wall mirror.
I walked back to Lake Morena to the other end of the park. It was pretty windy so I put my stove in a fire pit and made breakfast. By breakfast i mean dinner food. I've done this a lot when traveling if it's easier to clean up and everything I will make dinner food for breakfast. Plus at the end of the day I just want something easy and don't want to cook.
Oh, I went to throw away some trash and as I was walking back I saw a crow flying off with some of my bacon! He/she hung around waiting for me to leave again.
My MP3 player ran out of juice on the way down to Lake Morena, so I rigged up the solar panel to the back of my backpack. It was fully charged about four hours later, so looks like I'll be able to use one player while the other one recharges.
Speaking of music I actually listened to Bon Jovi's New Jersey album today too.
Had a strong and energetic walk to Boulder Oaks Campground. Ate lunch under a nice tree and then later on met a couple of other hikers, Reed and Atlas. Reed is from Portland too.
I later met Reed a few miles down the trail and we hiked together for a while. We split up again and when I stopped to do some extended screwing. around with my camera.
Thought about pushing another 18 miles today so I would only have five to do tomorrow and then could have breakfast at the lodge, but my legs were feeling it a bit so I found a flat spot on a ridge and made home for the nights.
