Pacific Crest Trail 2013

I first hiked the Pacific Crest Trail over the course of 1994 and 1996, then I hiked the whole thing in one go in 2013. During the latter hike I kept this website updated as I progressed up the trail. I still have about 45 hours of video to edit, but in the meantime there is a lot for you to look at here. Over the course of the 168 days I wrote 138,734 words and put 13,644 photos on this website.

Started packing up this morning and then slowed it down a bit when I realized check out time wasn't until noon.

Met a few more hikers outside of the hotel. I spent a few hours at the coffeeshop getting the travel site online and fighting with Wordpress. Joe and Ronan came by and were headed out. I had to mail off my laptop at the post office and get another bottle for carrying water.

Got my laptop mailed off. A guy at the post office asked if I (and another girl standing nearby) were on the trail and I said yes. "you all are always welcome in Idyllwild". Nice town. Also found out what keeps the town nice is that they have some ordinance that chain stores can't breed there so it keeps things a bit unique.

Joe, Ronan, and I started walking out of town and eventually got a ride from a woman with a pickup. We rode in the back and she dropped us off near the trailhead. I downed the 24oz beer I had in my pack and we started the long climb up to the 9000 foot level.

Joe and Ronan split off the PCT since they are going to go up Mt. San Jacinto. I shall go up there another time...even if it is the second highest peak in California.

As it got dark the lights of the big city to the west started showing up. I had forgotten that we were so close to a bigger city.

Made dinner and am now typing this via a bluetooth keyboard I had in my bounce box. I can type a lot faster on it than the phone directly. Freezing my butt off now so it is time to get into the sleeping bag and call it a night.
